Dharmadam Island

Dharmadom, Kannur KERALA

Dharmadom Island is an uninhabited island covered with coconut palms and dense bushes sits beyond the confluence of Anjarakandy and Thalassery rivers. It is just 100 metres from the sandy beach of Dharmadom, which is set off from the mainland by rivers that surround it on three sides and the sea on its western side. You can wade to the island at low tide.

Dharmadam Island in Kannur, is a secluded getaway spot, beautifully green with coconut palms and wild bushes. No wonder locals call this tiny 5 acre islet green island.

This isle, 100 meters from Dharmadam main land, is located between Kannur and Thalasseri.

It is formed as a result of lateritic rock projection between two arms of Anjarakkandy River and the sea.

During low tide the ocean recedes making it possible for visitors to walk to the island.

Walking through less than knee deep water and reaching the Island is an exciting experience.

Make sure to return before the tides get stronger.

Alternatively, you can take a boat from south end of nearby Moidu Bridge located along Kannur - Thalasseri highway and reach Dharmadam Island.
