A celebration in which all people irrespective of caste or creed join in, the Appa Vanibham Nercha of the Idiyangara Sheikh Masjid in Kozhikode district of Kerala is one in which people from across the State partake. Cultivated crops, new clothes are given as offerings to the mosque by devotees during the festival time. Miniature forms of the human body and limbs are also given as offerings to the mosque. A festival, which is more than 400 years old, Appa Vanibha Nercha attracts thousands of believers. There are various religious institutions and charity centres functioning under the administration of this mosque.
